Travel industry veteran Tom Fecke has been named as secretary general of Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) Europe.

Fecke will officially replace current secretary general Raphael Von Heereman on 3 January 2017.

“During his time with CLIA Europe, Raphael has been invaluable member of our team and I thank him for his dedication and commitment during the last two years,” said Cindy D’Aoust, president and CEO of CLIA. “He brought a wealth of knowledge and expertise from the airline sector that helped us develop an effective advocacy programme and I wish him success in his next chapter.”

Beginning his career as a travel agent, Fecke has held various management roles with Galileo/ Travelport and Avis Rent-a-Car, and spent eight years as a regional general manager for Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd in the German, Austrian and Swiss markets. Most recently, Fecke served as managing director of the Travel Industry Club in Germany and Austria.

In his new role, Fecke will be responsible for managing CLIA’s operations and strategies in the European region.

“Tom’s extensive experience in the travel industry makes him a welcome addition to our leadership team,” said D’Aoust. “The European cruise market has seen impressive growth over the past few years and I look forward to working with Tom to ensure the future success of the cruise market throughout Europe.”
