Carnival Cruise Line's newest and largest ship, Carnival Vista, arrived at her new PortMiami homeport in Florida, US on 27 November.

PortMiami’s assistant director Fred Wong welcomed Carnival Vista, her passengers, crew and captain Stefano Battinelli to the city during a traditional maritime plaque exchange. The ship then departed on her inaugural six-day cruise from Miami to Grand Turk, Turks and Caicos Islands; Ocho Rios, Jamaica and Nassau, the Bahamas.

"Miami has been our home since our company's inception in 1972 and homeporting the new Carnival Vista here not only provides consumers with a convenient homeport with renovated facilities and numerous operational enhancements but speaks volumes about our confidence in growing this important market," said Christine Duffy, Carnival's president.

Carnival Vista will sail a year-round schedule of six- and eight-day cruises from 3December. Six-day cruises feature Ocho Rios, Grand Cayman and Cozumel, Mexico. The eight-day voyages take guests to destinations like Aruba, Curacao, Bonaire, Grand Turk, San Juan, St. Kitts, St. Maarten and La Romana in the Dominican Republic.

In addition, the ship will offer a five-day cruise departing 11 December, seven-day voyages departing 17 and 24 December. These will take guests to Amber Cove in the Dominican Republic, as well as Mahogany Bay, Grand Turk, Belize, San Juan, St. Thomas and Cozumel, depending on the itinerary.

"We are thankful for Carnival Cruise Line's continued growth at PortMiami," said Carlos Gimenez, Miami-Dade mayor. “The arrival of new and innovative cruise ships such as Carnival Vista helps solidify our place as a global hub for travel and tourism, vital to the continual growth and development of our community."
