Carnival Horizon is to be the first Carnival Cruise Line ship to feature a Dr. Seuss-inspired water park when she debuts in Europe on 2 April 2018.
Located on Deck 12, the Dr. Seuss WaterWorks builds on Carnival’s exclusive partnership with Dr. Seuss Enterprises, which has brought immersive themed youth, family, dining and entertainment experiences to the fleet.
Carnival Horizon’s Dr. Seuss WaterWorks will feature a 450-foot-long enclosed raft slide named The Cat in the Hat, as well as an enclosed, 213-foot-long Fun Things body slide with polka dots and special lighting effects. There will also be a 150-gallon tipping bucket and a children’s splash zone with water spray toys. The facility will be decorated with larger-than-life images of Dr. Seuss characters, including The Cat in the Hat, The Grinch, and Thing 1 and Thing 2.
“We’re excited to build upon our relationship with Carnival by introducing our first-ever water park,” said Susan Brandt, president of Dr. Seuss Enterprises. “Dr. Seuss is all about family fun and togetherness and we can’t wait to see our characters come to life in this colourful and exciting space.”
Carnival Horizon will also feature the Dr. Seuss Bookville family reading and play venue and popular Seuss at Sea activities like The Green Eggs and Ham Breakfast and the Seuss-a-palooza Parade and Story Time.
“Our ships are designed as the ultimate seagoing playgrounds and Carnival Horizon will take this concept to the next level with the spectacular Dr. Seuss WaterWorks which promises fun for guests of all ages,” said Christine Duffy, Carnival Cruise Line’s president. “Dr. Seuss is an iconic American brand and we’re delighted to expand our partnership with this incredible top-deck water attraction for our guests.”
Other family-friendly highlights will include the bike-ride-in-the-sky attraction called SkyRide, an IMAX Theatre and the SportSquare outdoor recreation area with a suspended ropes course. Guests will be able to stay in a wide range of accommodations, including staterooms in Family Harbor, which also has a lounge area with large screen TVs, board games and complimentary breakfast, cookies and other snacks.
Carnival Horizon will depart for her maiden voyage on 2 April 2018, sailing a 13-day Mediterranean cruise from Barcelona, Spain. Following three more roundtrips from Barcelona, the ship will reposition to New York, US with a 14-day transatlantic crossing from 9-23 May. The vessel will sail a series of four-day Bermuda and eight-day Caribbean departures from New York, before moving to Miami to kick off a year-round schedule of six- and eight-day Caribbean cruises beginning 22 September 2018.
