Croatian shipyard Brodosplit has cut the steel for Polar Expeditions' new expedition cruise ship, which will begin sailing in the Arctic in March 2019.

Brodosplit Design Department designed the vessel and her technical solutions to ensure she will meet Lloyd’s Register’s Polar Class 6 ice-class requirements, emissions regulations, and the International Maritime Organization’s Polar Code, which will be mandatory from January 2018.

The 350-foot-long vessel will accommodate 196 passengers in 85 cabins, and will be equipped with two main engines so she can sail at a speed of 15 knots. The ship will also be equipped with stabilizers to ensure she can operate safely in both the Arctic and Antarctic regions.
