Deltamarin is to provide basic and detailed design services for all hull and machinery areas onboard a new car/passenger ferry that Rauma Marine Constructions (RMC) is constructing for Finnish-Swedish consortium Kvarken Link.

The company, which is a long-term partner of RMC, will carry out the work over 13-14 months at its offices in Finland and Poland with the assistance of network companies.

“We at Deltamarin are very happy to continue the strategic cooperation with RMC, which we started in the Molslinjen project,” said Janne Uotila, Deltamarin CEO. “It’s great to be part of the journey, providing engineering services and supporting RMC in executing its growth plan.”

Scheduled for delivery in 2021, Kvarken Link’s new 800-passenger ferry will have a freight capacity of 1,500 lane metres for trucks on two cargo decks. The ice-class newbuild will primarily run on LNG fuel but will also be able to use liquified biogas and batteries, minimising her environmental impact on her daily sailings between Vaasa, Finland and Umeå, Sweden.
