ADELTE is to design, manufacture and install four seaport passenger boarding bridges (SPBBs) at two cruise terminals at Port Canaveral in Florida, US.

To be installed at Cruise Terminals 5 and 10, the custom-made HYDRA model SPBBs will be used to safely transfer passengers between their ship and the shore. Each of the SPBBs will be equipped with a new feature developed by ADELTE’s R&D engineering department, which consists of a cabin with a double telescopic ramp that can be adapted to connect with any access door to improve passenger flow.

The SPBBs will accommodate large modern cruise ships such as Carnival Cruise Line’s Carnival Magic, Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Epic and Royal Caribbean International’s Oasis of the Seas, which will homeport at Port Canaveral in 2016.

“This is the second time that our company has been contracted to deliver sophisticated boarding bridges to Port Canaveral; the first two SPBBs were installed in 2012 at Cruise Terminal 6 and have been in operation since then,” said Jordi Floreta, vice president and commercial director at ADELTE. “We are very proud to be involved in this ambitious project and to be able to contribute our unique design and safety technology to consolidating the superior service infrastructure of such a leading cruise port.”

ADELTE will have a total of six SPBBs operating in Port Canaveral in 2016.
