ACL to double capacity on Columbia and Snake Rivers
The line's newbuild America will debut on the Mississippi River in 2016

American Cruise Lines is to more than double its capacity on the Columbia and Snake Rivers in the Pacific Northwest.

The three-year-old Queen of the Mississippi, which is to be renamed, will join Queen of the West to meet high customer demand for cruises on the Columbia and Snake Rivers.

Meanwhile the line’s new 185-passenegr paddlewheeler America will replace Queen of the Mississippi on the Mississippi River in early 2016. America is scheduled to move from the building dock to the outfitting dock in Salisbury, Maryland, this week.

A new Queen of the Mississippi is also under construction at Chesapeake Shipbuilding.
