Acapulco in Mexico is set to welcome 28 cruise ships in 2017, a 64% rise from the 18 it hosted in 2016.

Open from September 2017 to July 2018, Acapulco’s cruise season will see ships arriving from North and Central America. Norwegian Cruise Line, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, V-Ships, Silversea Cruises, Oceania Cruises, Crystal Cruises, Global Cruise Line, Saga Cruises and Hapag-Lloyd Cruises all call this year.

To help promote the port and boost cruise traffic in future, representatives from the Acapulco Tourism Board, the Acapulco Destination Marketing Office and several tour companies attended Seatrade Cruise Global in Fort Lauderdale, Florida from 13-16 March 2017. The teams have also organised a meeting with the Florida Caribbean Cruise Association’s Operations Committee to deliver a report on cruising in Acapulco.

This year, Peruvian authorities from Lima will also visit Acapulco to learn more about its operating model and the successful programme that links the port with the city of Acapulco and several reputable travel agencies.
