Spear Green Design (SGD) remains one of the top partners for delivering high quality marine interior design, specification and documentation work. Recently launched vessels with interiors designed by SGD include two 42-metre fast ferries for Hong Kong, the 680-passenger Halunder Jet for German line FRS, and Spirit of the Wild, which is operated by RACT in Tasmania, Australia. SGD has also previously designed all the interior fitout for two 48-metre catamarans for Mexican operator Ultramar.

SGD designed and specified all fitout for FRS’s upmarket tourism ferry Halunder Jet, built by Austal which pushed the boundaries by bringing detailed elements and strong corporate branding to the onboard spaces. Highlights include overhead luggage racks, clever controllable lighting effects, reflective stretched deckhead membranes, detailed and well-equipped bars and kiosks, a glass platform elevator and dehumidifying cabinets for passengers’ wet coats due to the local climate. The company received great accolades from FRS, which is delighted with the vessel.

Meanwhile, SGD designed RACT’s Spirit of the Wild to have a contemporary and sleek exterior and exciting interiors with upmarket finishes that are also cost effective, robust, practical and lightweight to help reduce both maintenance needs and fuel use.

As a result, the ferry, which uses a high-tech hybrid propulsion system, has high quality interiors that ultimately enhance the passenger experience. The client, owner, operator and yard were all impressed with the stunning marine interiors and now that Spirit of the Wild has started service, she has immediately taken market share and increased passenger numbers in a competitive marketplace.
