Spain’s Port of A Coruña hosted 12,000 cruise passengers during a triple cruise call on 13 September, making it the busiest cruise day in the port’s history.

Both Costa Cruises’ Costa Favolosa and Costa Mediterranea made their inaugural visits to A Coruña, exchanging commemorative plaques with local authorities to mark the occasion. The third ship to call was P&O Cruises’ Britannia.

“The morning fog complicated the operation a bit, but the 12,000 visitors were able to enjoy a walk around the city in warm and sunny weather,” said Samanta García-Carro de la Colina, head of the Port Authority of A Coruña’s Commercial Unit.

The port will host another triple call on 20 September, when Holland America Line's Koningsdam, Royal Caribbean International's Independence of the Seas and TUI Cruises' Mein Schiff 5 will bring around 12,000 visitors. This will generate an estimated €1 million (US$1.3 million) for the city.
