Princess Cruises has officially opened the new Camp Discovery centres for younger passenegrs onboard Grand Princess with the help of the Science Channel’s Hakeem Oluseyi and Discovery Channel’s Tory Belleci, who presents Mythbusters.

Oluseyi and Belleci joined Grand Princess while she was berthed in San Francisco, California, leading some of the activities that are included in the new onboard Discovery at Sea programmes. Belleci spoke about shark myths, while Oluseyi led children in a guided ‘stargazing’ session.

Camp Discovery is split into three centres, all of which offer MythBusters science activities, as well as destination-themed programmes focusing on the culture and nature of the Caribbean, Alaska and Europe.

Featuring an animal theme, The Treehouse (formerly Pelicans) is for those aged 3-7 and offers hands-on activities, while The Lodge (formerly Shockwaves) is targeted at those aged 8-12 and offers sports activities for in an outdoors-themed setting. The Beach House (formerly Remix) offers a contemporary surf-themed lounge for passengers aged 13-17.

Other activities include a family fair with carnival-like booths and activities in the Piazza, family quizzes and a games night, Stargazing with Discovery at Sea activities, and new soon-to-be announced family-themed programmes.
