La Société des traversiers du Québec (STQ) has finalised its order for two dual-fuel LNG ferries which are to be built by Canadian shipyard Chantier Davie Canada (Davie).

The two ro-pax ferries will enter service on the St Lawrence River in 2015, operating on the Tadoussac-Baie-Sainte-Catherine route. Each vessel will have more than 625 lane metres across two decks, enabling them to carry more than 115 vehicles or 10 heavy goods vehicles.

“The dual-fuel LNG engines are a perfect fit with Davie’s specialisation in advanced propulsion and vessel manoeuvring systems,” said Alan Bowen, CEO of Davie. “The ferries will provide an environmentally friendly solution for the province of Quebec for many years to come.”
